Social Emotional Mental Health Support Partner

Bexley is a high performing Council with well-regarded Children's Services. We are striving to improve educational and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disability across the Borough. We have a well-established and innovative Early Intervention Team, that includes SEN Strategic Support Partners, Educational Psychologists, SEMH Support Partners, AEN/SEN Support Partner and Early Intervention Team Social Workers. There are strong links with the School Improvement and Partnership and Statutory Assessment teams, as well as with Children’s Social Care teams. The Early Intervention Team work very closely with schools at the SEN Support stage (SEND Code of Practice) but also undertake relevant work outside of school settings
The focus of the teams is on early intervention, seeking to provide support to children, young people and their families who require additional help to achieve successful outcomes in school, but whose needs are not severe enough for them to meet the criteria for higher threshold services. Providing support at an early stage will enable needs to be addressed and ensure that the numbers needing higher level services will reduce over time. We have recently been awarded 5 years of DfE funding to deliver additional early intervention programmes into our early years and school aged settings.
We have a vacancy within our team for a full time Social and Emotional Mental Health Partner.
The main purpose of the job is:· To provide early intervention support, advice and guidance to schools, parents and other professionals in terms of children who are experiencing social, emotional, or behaviour difficulties within school to prevent the need of high threshold services being provided. · The post holder will have a role in advising and training schools and teaching staff in terms of behaviour strategies for groups of children. · They will work directly with children and parents/carers as necessary, assessing their needs, and planning and delivering programmes of support and interventions to individuals and groups of children. This will be in order to re- establish effective engagement with education and improve attendance, progress and attainment. · To contribute to the delivery of The Incredible years Programme to parents, carers of pupils across preschool, primary and secondary schools.
This may involve some evening/school holiday delivery to be negotiated on an individual basis.

We are looking for a Qualified Teacher with significant experience of behaviour management strategies in classroom settings, with the skills and abilities to work across the compulsory school age.
